Did you ever wonder why...

in the state of PA, you must wear your seatbelt while riding in a car, but motorcyclists can choose whether or not to wear a helmet?

it is rude for men to wear their hats inside a building, but it's ok for women to do so?

it is polite to wait until everyone is served before beginning to eat so that the first person(s) food is cold?

12 year olds need bike helmets and 13 year olds do not?

What is it you wonder about?

There are a lot of activities going on this weekend.  Saturday begins with the Pet Blessing at the Port Allegany UMC parking lot.  Bring your pets!  Bring your donations to the SPCA!  Just stop by and visit!  It's always a good time.

The Woodcarvers will be on the Town Square.  That always promises to be a good time.  I hear the Women's Club will be selling sloppy joes...sounds yummy!  I'm not sure what all is scheduled, but I'm sure its worth checking out!

There will also be a benefit for Nate and Cassie Howard, from 4 to 8 ...it will be held at the Veterans Memorial Building...gun raffle, spaghetti dinner, Chinese Auction!  Something for everyone!

The Port Allegany Alumni Dinner Dance is being held Saturday,   September 24 starting at 5 p.m. at the Port Allegany Fire Hall.  A buffet dinner at 6 p.m. will be followed by a business meeting, then dancing.  Beer and mixers will be provided.  Reservations go to Shirley McDowell, 14 Laurel Lane, Port Allegany, PA 16743 or phone her at 642-2705.

The Alumni Football Game between the Gators and the Falcons will be played July 9 at Gator Field.  Proceeds are going to PACS. There will be a food drive going on at the same time.  Bring a couple cans of food for the food pantry and receive a discount on your admission to the game.

Not sure when the warmer weather will kick in...probably serves us right for complaining about the hot weather.  I guess that was me doing all the complaining.  Some people enjoy the warm weather!

We had lunch with the GSE team from Pakistan today.  What wonderful people they are!  Also visiting at our Tuesday Rotary meeting was Dr. Akhtar from Bradford...another very nice person.  The Rotarians always thank me for my presence and my support...but I owe them a big thank you for the opportunities my participation with their club allows....all the nice people I would have otherwise not met...like the GSE teams and Rotary Exchange students...the good meals provided by the staff at the Moose, the friendships with the members of the clubs as well as their guests and speakers...it's all good!

I also appreciate my association with the Women's Club...another wonderful group that doesn't get a lot of recognition for all that they do.  There will be a membership event this fall.  I hope women, young and old, will consider attending the kick-off event.  The plans are not yet final...but I'm sure it will be a fun-filled, relaxing event.

Sunday is Father's Day.  I have a pretty special father...so do my kids!  We're very lucky!  Don't forget to let the special men in your life know how much they mean to you!
