I decided to give this space to Brianna Bizzaro who is collecting donations for an upcoming mission’s trip.  Here is the information I received:

First off, I would like to thank-you for taking the time to read this letter. My name is Brianna and I am a senior Music Education student at Ohio Northern University.  I am writing to you on behalf of Ohio Northern University’s mission trip association, Northern Without Borders, which is affiliated through Solid Rock Missions out of Cleveland.  On this trip, we will be traveling to the Dominican Republic in hopes of alleviating medical issues the natives to the area are experiencing.  With that being said, I am asking for any donations you might deem necessary for basic living.

The supplies we take are normally donated from various organizations and affiliations and I was hoping you would be willing to donate materials or money (which can be used at your direction); it would mean the world to the people and to myself.  If you would like some pictures or a video showing how we used your materials please let me know and I would be more than happy to put something together for you.

Below is the list of items that we are hoping to receive donations towards by July 22nd:

Prescription: any samples you are willing to donate

Over the Counter: Vitamins (child and adult), Heartburn, Pain, Antihistamines, General Cold, Anti-fungals, Anti-infectives, analgesics, etc.

First aid supplies: BAND AIDS, neosporin, hydrogen peroxide, ace bandages, finger splints, gauze, etc.

General hygiene products: toothbrushes, floss, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, shampoo, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, feminine pads etc.

* Two large suitcases to pack all of the donated items in.

I personally am in charge of keeping that youth entertained while their family is receiving treatment.  Therefore, it is my job to come up with the games, sporting equipment, activities, crafts, etc. to keep the children entertained.  I am expecting about 100 children a day. (total of 500 for the week)

Below is the interdisciplinary list:

popsicle sticks, googly eyes, crayons, markers, pens, pencils, erasers, pipe cleaners, glue, scissors (kid friendly), yarn, pony beads (no seed beads please), paper (any type!), coloring books, any craft supplies, a polaroid camera and film, any type of sporting equipment.

*any items on the interdisciplinary list does not have to be new.  We will use anything and everything donated.

If you have any other materials you would like to donate which are not on the list please feel free to send them.  Remember anything we receive will be used and given to the people.  What we bring with us are the only materials we have to give them.

Thank you so much for your time and generosity,

Brianna Bizzaro
