Owner, Mick Caulkins, notes that the diner is well-known in the area for specials: Spaghetti & Meatballs every Tuesday, Chicken & Biscuits every Wednesday, and Icelandic haddock Fish Fry on Fridays.
Old fashioned homemade cooking is highlighted by peeling and mashing their own potatoes, making their own gravies and roasting their beef onsite. Their soups and “The Best Chili in Town” are made from scratch. All hamburg is delivered fresh three times a week and never frozen. It is used to make “The Monster”, a burger made with 16 ounces of fresh ground beef on a giant bun, and suspected of dislocating more than one jaw!
Many years ago Mick’s Place was known as “Kupper’s Kitchen”. As a newcomer to town, Gracie and the other girls working at Kupper’s then made sure I ate right. The name of the diner has changed, but I can assure you - the objective is still the same!
